Extra Baggage

For once, I lugged my running gear out-of-town, but didn’t run. I wasn’t in NYC long enough yesterday anyway, and besides, it was raining. I remember thinking about Yvonne while crossing over the Queensborough Bridge into town, and how this was her backyard, her bridge, and how she OWNS it.

One day, I’d like to run that bridge. NYC marathon ’07 perhaps?

I thought of running this morning in DC, but I was up till 1:30 AM doing work stuff. Ugh. If anything, I wanted to visit the scene of my disaster, the Key Bridge. Enough endorphins remain from White Rock to make me believe I can get up and over that bridge now. Fast.

One day, I’d like to OWN that bridge too.

BTW - if you're having trouble leaving comments on other blogs, this could be why: Logging in with an old Blogger account to post a comment on the new Blogger is giving a “please try again later” error. Until we fix this, it may work to log in first at http://www.blogger.com/login.g, and then go to the comments page on the new version of Blogger in beta. — latest update on Thursday, December 14, 2006

Key Bridge? nawww, you must mean the 14th street bridge! key bridge was like mile 4! if you were having trouble that early...well, you'd still be running that marathon! I love the NYC idea. I always drag my running gear around with me ...and then never get to use it. all the way to europe for two runs! it was worth it though.

Thanks for the Blogger advice. I was convince it was yet another conspiracy....and I've done the same on trips: bring all the gear and not run or, more typically, want to run and have no gear.

By the way, I'm having a heck of a time with blogger b/c I have two different gmail accounts. It seems you have to log out and back in using the one associated with Blogger--and by then, I've usually written my conments. Which then get deleted when I switch accounts. ugh.

Hi Rich! Sorry I missed your phone call. Good to hear from you. I only check my cell phone on the weekends, unless I'm expecting a call. Too bad you didn't have more time in DC - we could have re-visited 14th Street Bridge. Oh, fun times on Mile 20 of the MCM. What's next now that you've conquered the 4:00 barrier?

One time we drove 24 hrs from Calgary, AB to Disneyand (with the kids). I borrowed a double running stroller so we could run everyday. The thing took up half the van. We were gone for 2 weeks...Never ran once...

Great run, the 4 hours wall was broken! Now the bridge.....maybe we will destroy it together the next year.
