Why I Run: Reason #8

You travel long enough, it's bound to happen. No, I'm not referring to the last flight out of Dallas last night depositing me at Reagan National Airport at 2:15 AM, which it did. I'm talking about leaving home without, uh, well, essentials. With an "s".

In the cab on the way to my hotel, I'm contemplating going to my client meeting this morning in black dress pants, black dress shoes, and white Thorlos. Not quite the first impression I want to make. Where to get supplies at 3:00 AM? Well, I spied a 24-hour Rite-Aid a block from my hotel, and made a mental note.

6:30 AM and I'm back on the pavement. Figured I might as well make a run out of it and swing by Rite-Aid on the way back. I ran west from Dupont Circle, along Embassy Row, making it to the edge of Rock Creek Parkway. Memories of MCM came back, except that the parkway was full of traffic this time.

I turned around and made it back to Rite-Aid. They only had women's socks. WTH, black is black. One problem solved.

As for the other, they apparently don't stock that kind of contingency at Rite-Aid. I spent way too many minutes staring at the shelf, considering whether I ought to just do a Britney. Better judgement prevailed, and I made a no-nonsense command decision. I felt better after that. And smoother.

Whoa! Thank goodness for Rite Aid. Even if they don't have the gender balance down in the undies and socks department. Hope you have a good stay here in town. Today is crazy (started work at 6:30 am!), but if you're still in D.C. tomorrow and happen to have some extra free time and are so inclined, we can grab a quick coffee. No pressure - just trying to be a good DC host. :-)

I thought you did laundry right before you left because you were out of socks???

Good lord. I had to click on the britney link. That is how out of it I am. You on the other hand, appear to be extremely up on the happenings of Britney's wardrobe, um, non-selections.

Travel is tough! Stop coming to D.C. panty-less! That's not the way to get ahead here! (um, actually, i think it is.)

Stopping now...

That is one of my nightmares. Thank goodness for 24-hour drug stores. Though maybe this is why Britney keeps flashing the paparazzi...she does her shopping at Rite-Aid now.

Hey, I don't have your e-mail address, so just shoot me one at asaita at hotmail.com and I'll get that piece to you.

Oh Boy...that has never happend to me, yet?! On our local radio station they had said according to recent surveys 3% of women go "Britney" and 10% of men go "Britney"...I was surprised, thought it would be the other way around.

Hahahah! that is very funny. I am glad you didn't go with the thong option - they're no good on long runs...
